CAV Fuel Cell Failure

I have been working on the fuel smell on my CAV Mono and it led me to pull the right fuel cell to follow up on suspicious staining under the right side of the car.
It appears that the front bladder wall on the cell is not adequately bonded. There is no sign of abrasion or abuse so it looks like an OEM issue. The cell was made June 2002. Attached are photos and perhaps they may be useful for others to check.

The yellow circles and arrow point to the leaks.

Veek, to PAT CHAFFIN ( PCHAFFIN@cfl.rr.com ) who also has a fuel cell problem, he found a self tap screw, put in by the factory, through his cell. He was having to investigate getting a new cell, so he could advise you on his progress, Frank

Re: CAV Fuel Cell Failure

Just spotted this post! Autofutura have had some alloy fuel tanks made which I now have on my CAV. They are very good quality, a snug fit in the sill, and pretty easy to fit. You may want to get in touch with John Spence to see if they can supply you alloy replacements.
