Alternator wiring

Chaps,
Need some help for my simple brain. SOmeone got me this alternator years ago and I am now strating to try and wire the car up.

I am using a SGT loom and for the alternator part it says

Brown (16mm) > Starter Solenoid
Brown/Yellow > Dash Connector - IGN Warning Light

I am assuming the 16mm goes to the Red/Batt terminal below.

Where does the other go, or does the loom assume a 1 wire connection and I have another type of alternator?

Re: Alternator wiring

You need the separate regulator to go with that alternator - less than £20 as I remember.

Re: Alternator wiring

The diagram for the dash light alternator is appropriate.

Re: Alternator wiring

Hi
I used to have an alternator off a mustang, or such like. Also had a voltage regulator. Wasn't really very good. I have since fitted an alternator off a Ford Ka, and done away with my regulator. Much better charging now.

Re: Alternator wiring

Not for everybody, but I've had a lot of success with a single-wire alternatora, and plan on using another for this project.
