Swaging / beading pipes

Does anyone know of a company in the Bristol area UK where I can get some beads on some ali pipes which I'm going to use for my cooling?

Thanks in advance

Jayson

if you know anyone that can weld ally, you could consider getting them to weld a bead around the end of the pipes.

I believe you can get a tool from B&Q for swaging copper pipes, basically you press dimples into the ends. I have a few ends to get done, for small ally pipes I send them to the workshop for the welder to weld a bead around the end. The main copper pipes down the centre of the car (which I canny remove) I am going to get that swaging tool,.... if I can find it! K

In the absence of the correct swaging tool you can do a fair job with a plumbers olive and solder. If you use alusol you can solder a brass olive to alloy ,steel or copper tube and it makes for a good bead. SOLDER, ALUSOL 0.91MM 500G - 629443 - MULTICORE (SOLDER)
These olives come in lots of sizes and because they are only being used as a step to stop the rubber hose creeping off the pipe you can cut and close or open them to suit.

EARL'S Performance Plumbing in the U.S makes a tool called an EZ-Beader for that purpose.
Multiple sizes are available. I haven't tried them myself yet.
Maybe a dealer in the U.K. sells them.
Hope this helps.

For what its worth, I found that the easiest way was to take the pipes to an exhaust specialist & get them to put a simple flair on the last 1/4" of the pipes.

All good exhaust guys have a flairing machine, & only takes about a minute per flair - so cheap !

Thanks for the offer Bob, If I'm your way soon I will take you up on that!

That tool from earls is nice, quite pricey for a one off job though :(

Couldnt find that tool when I last went to B&Q think its discontinued :(, you can occasionally pick one up on ebay though, think its called an oyster tool.

Drill holes equidistant around the pipe

Insert and pop pop rivets

Posh hose over pipe and pop rivets and attach with Jubilee clamp (Or 2 to be sure to be sure!)
Cannot leak through rivet as hose is over the tip
Hose cannot slide off the pipe because of the rivets

Cost - half a dozen pop rivets and 10 mins
