Converting to E85 ethanol

I am considering migrating to E85 ethanol in my 40 replica. I run a stack fuel injection system, with a programmable ECU, so increasing fuel volume is not an issue. My question deals with fuel cell foam. Will the ethanol eat the foam? Or, is there foam available specifically engineered for Ethanol? Have no experience in this area, wanted to see if anyone could offer insight or suggestions.

Thanks-Jack

There are fuel cell foams that can handle ethanol, but check on yours.

Re: Converting to E85 ethanol

Jack,

If you haven't double checked the fuel flow rates of your injectors, E85 will require ≈ 1.4 times the flow of gasoline, don't be surprised if you need to use larger injectors to keep the duty cycle (% of the time the injector is open) low enough.

There is a pretty good forum dedicated to E85 use: E85 Performance

HTH,
Lynn
