How difficult are 3U transaxles to find in the US?

Just a question for the Audi users. How "in demand" are the 3U transaxles in the US? The reason that I ask is that I'm in the UK and am happy to have a look around for guys if there is enough interest.

For those who don't know, here is some ratio info (calcs based on 295/50R15 tyres):

3U: 3.89 Diff, 6500rpm=207mph or 70mph=2201rpm

BMO/WB/UV/MO/MR: 3.89 Diff, 6500rpm=195mph or 70mph=2338rpm

APN/4V/5V/APP: 4.11 Diff, 6500rpm=196mph or 70mph=2325rpm

Because all Audi tranny's have the 3.6 first gear, the 4.11 Diff gives an even worse 1st gear ratio than the others so is probably least desirable of the three groups above.

Anyway, if there is any interest, I could do some looking around.

The 016 boxes in the US are mostly 5N or AAZ....either way
5th gear is a lot higher rpm than 2300 for tire/speed
you mentioned. Depending on the cost, I'd take (2) myself
and I know of others as well. Let us know what you find.
Thx

No problem, I'll have a look around. If I find a supply, it'll probably be easier to ship a bunch together, but I'll look at the cost of getting them first.
