Rep Power: 3 | ZF RBT delivery Hi,
I am still trying to figure out when I could expect my ZF (ordered in Dec), and was wondering if anyone got one recently, or got any clarity on when to expect their delivery.
Thank you

Wow, that's a long time. Too long.
I had a chat with Lloyd Butfoy last week. He was just finishing up the rebuild of an existing ZF that had been sent to him in October.
He told me that he had just closed a deal on new premises, a few miles from his existing too-small shop. He'll be located very close to McLeod clutches. He's supposed to start moving this week and hopes to be up and running very quickly. The new place has much more room, and once established there, he plans to move the whole new transaxle assembly operation from its current (inadequate) location in Texas, and it will all be under one roof at last. Oliver in Texas will still be supervising the manufacturing of the parts; they will then all be shipped to California where Lloyd will perform and oversee all the actual labor. There haven't been any problems noted with the work coming out of Texas, other than the fact that they are SO slow.
Lloyd has, until now, been exclusively working on rebuilding existing gearboxes, i.e. Pantera gearboxes (some of which he's converted for GT40 use). He thinks that he is going to shift his personal focus to the new units, and get some help from mutual friends in the Pantera business to take on the used gearbox rebuilding program. There are several Pantera specialists in the LA area and they're all buddies, so one of them is going to split time between his own business and Lloyd's, in order to accelerate gearbox production.
Which, by the way, needs a LOT of acceleration!!!!

Rep Power: 3 | Re: ZF RBT delivery Just an FYI. My boxes were ordered on November 6, 2006. Still have not been shipped. I talked with Llyod on September 6th 2007 and he said I was "close" and should see them out of the next order he recieves from Texas.
Very frustrating, one of my friends that I am building P2175 for was actually diagnosed with liver cancer in May, and will probably not live to ever drive his car. |

I am sorry to hear about your friend.
Would you mind letting me know when Lloyd ships your ZF? Then I'll try to get in touch with him about mine. I'm guessing I'll get it a month after yours.... |

Rep Power: 2 | Re: ZF RBT delivery I've had one on order, and even agreed to a 4.22 ratio, he said he had a pantera unit that would only require a filp that that would be done in a week, that was a month ago. I can' believe he is producing 3-4 boxes a week,I think its more like 3-4 a month, if we a lucky!! Boy I hope the QZF works out so we can get cars on the road! very frustrating indeed

Rep Power: 3 | Re: ZF RBT delivery Well, I got a call a couple of days ago with the news that my ZF was going to ship, from Texas. I don't know what my gear ratio will be, but I'm so happy to finally get this transmission. Good luck to all the others waiting!! |
