Audi R-Tronic Sequential Gearbox

Does anyone know of the Audi R-Tronic Sequential Gearbox can be mated to a Ford V8 lump?

I cant afford one - just interested from a technical point of view

Anything is possible with enough time and $$$. Does that transaxle have electronics? If so, that will complicate the installation. Otherwise it is just a matter of getting the right dimensions and building the necessary parts.

Hi Richard,

Sounds like a question for our friend Wanni, there is Volkswagen/Audi/Lamborghini/Cima connection in this application.

From a cost no object and technical point of view, what about dropping in the whole Audi V8/Transaxle complete. You'd not only get paddle shifts and clutchless driving, ALL the other computers would come along for the ride, active suspension, traction control, ABS and so on. It'd be an Audi GT40 and a pretty serious peice of work

Cheers

Re: Audi R-Tronic Sequential Gearbox

nah! - I aren't a stickler for accuracy, but a GT40 without a Ford V8 is not a GT40 in my book. Gearbox - now thats a diff matter .
I just thought that an "off the shelf" sequential shift box, capable of handling 540 BHP was an interesting option. I know that Audi boxes are a common option in '40's and that the Audi interface might be a common item.

Re: Audi R-Tronic Sequential Gearbox

Is this the ' box they put in the R8?
I drove one a couple of months ago and it was a FANTASTIC car! It's the only test drive I have ever had where the salesman in the passenger seat was telling me to go faster! He even made me go round the route again so I could go into some of the bends much faster to prove the cars capabilties!
The paddle shift was tricky to get used to, but was worth it, but auto mode it was rubbish because of the delay in the manual box operating in auto mode.
