Tall Ring and Pinions for Porsche G50

NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM CMS (CALIFORNIA MOTORSPORTS)

After much development and at last, 3.10/10:31 ring and pinions for Porsche G50 5 speed normal (E.g. G50/03) and turbo (E.g. G50/52) transaxles are now available and are in stock at California Motorsports-exclusive dealers for Albins Off Road Gear products to suit Porsche in the USA and Canada.

Historically only non-standard individual gear sets have been an option when re-gearing a Porsche transaxle to mate to a V8. Truth of the matter is that standard/stock gearing is not ideal for most all around V8 street use-in most cases. This is because the power curves are much different in a flat six, different between normal and turbo flat sixes, different depending on displacement, year, make and model. Anyone who has compared Porsche's gearing to GM's already knows this.

Normally 1st gear and top gear are way too low meaning 1st is almost unusable and top gear revs are too high for cruising.

Here are some comparisons:

Stock G50/03 with standard 3.44 final drive:
Gear ratio/Mph per 1000 RPM/Mph @7000 RPM with 26” tire
1st 3.500/6.42/45
2nd 2.059/10.92/76
3rd 1.407/15.98/112
4th 1.086/20.70/145
5th 0.868/25.90/181

G50/03 with 3.10 final drive:
Gear ratio/Mph per 1000 RPM/Mph @7000 RPM with 26” tire
1st 3.500/7.13/50
2nd 2.059/12.12/85
3rd 1.407/17.73/124
4th 1.086/22.98/161
5th 0.868/28.75/201

G50/52 with standard 3.44 final drive:
Gear ratio/Mph per 1000 RPM/Mph @7000 RPM with 26” tire
1st 3.154/7.13/50
2nd 1.789/12.57/88
3rd 1.269/17.72/124
4th 0.967/23.25/163
5th 0.756/29.74/208

G50/52 with 3.10 final drive:
Gear/Mph per 1000 RPM/Mph @7000 RPM with 26” tire
1st 3.154/7.91/55
2nd 1.789/13.95/98
3rd 1.269/19.66/138
4th 0.967/25.80/181
5th 0.756/33.00/231

Not only will the 3.10 move the gears in the right direction, it’s a heavier duty ring and pinion and will increase the strength rating of the transaxle in that specific area as well.

Albins crown wheel and pinions feature the same “German cut” as Porsche as they are produced on a Klingelnberg spiral bevel gear cutting machine, not like an “American cut” from a Gleason machine. Rest assured these tested and are proven high quality ring and pinions and are not the first ones to come off the machine.

Pricing for individual final drive sets in stock:
$2795 G50 5 speed normal (G50/00-G50/05)
$3095 G50 5 speed turbo (G50/50-G50/52)

The following ring and pinions will be available soon:
-3.10 G50/20 6 speed normal
-3.00 G96 Getrag 6 speed normal
