G50 gear positions

Hi,

Is anyone able to advise me of the correct positions for the 5 gears and reverse for a porsche G50 gearbox. As per the attached picture there seems to be 4 positions for 6 gears i.e. 1st plane in, middle (is this neutral), and out, 2nd plane (middle of 1st plain then clockwise against spring) in, then out.

Hope this makes sense.

Kind Regards

Nick

Re: G50 gear positions

Nick, if your shift pattern is correct, from the middle plane(neutral) you should be able to find two positions rearward (2nd & 4th) and four forward ( rev-1st-3rd-5th ). Rev & 5th will require some extra twist force on the shaft in order to overcome the detent-rev more so than 5th. ( this is working directly on the shift rod as it exits trans at rear )

Re: G50 gear positions

I think the problem is I may be expecting to much of a deflection on the shaft when going from 1st and 2nd to 3rd and 4th. Can anyone advise on the amount the bar should deflect anticlockwise to select the 2nd plane (3rd and 4th).

Regards

Nick

Re: G50 gear positions

Thanks for the reply, I now definitely can select 1st 2nd and reverse (definite detent), I believe I have 3rd and 4th, hope so as if I don't there is a problem with the box, that just means I have 5th to still find.

Regards
