016 upgraded gear set

Searched hi & low. Seem to remember that a UK company was mentioned in the threads. They manufacture replacement internals for the Audi 016, the ratios are also changed to be more user friendly in a GT 40:stunned:. Anybody please?

Years back someone did a custom ring an pinion out of Australia. German Transaxle is Bend Oregon USA did a 3.17 R&P for the 016. There are a couple threads documenting this. I have this setup in my car. Highly recommended...

There was a race shop in England that had Quaife make a set of gears for the 016. They were stronger and better suited to a V8 but they never got any further than the one set. I had talked to them several times and a friend of mine even visited the shop when he went to England to see relatives. There was a thread about them somewhere here on the forum. The guys name at the shop was Struart. You will have to go back about 5 years.

Yep, people always ignore the "Similar Threads" automatic search function of the forum. It is a wonderful tool.

You can also use a Porsche 944 turbo ring and pinion, which is lower than the 016, however the 016 is almost a 40 year old design, it has significant weaknesses inherent to the design, and many parts are not available anymore.

As Scott says, you can change to the Porsche 951 (944 turbo or s2) gearset. I did this after smashing my 016 diff pinion. Search my threads and you will find what is involved. For the cost and effort don't bother is my advice. Get an 01e instead!
