Screw the machine shop. Transaxle dreaming

This Is Cool Stuff, And from My understanding there lots more on the way. The R&D people are working heavy on this and other technology's like it. Wally

What are the costs associated with using this technology? Can alex afford it and have his 917 motor authentically reproduced. I remember the owner of a rare hemi cuda describing the feeling of driving a 10 million dollar car as liberating because he knew he couldnt do 10 million dollars damage to it.
Think about it, you need the original #s matching block casting. No problem My casting people will have that at the machine shop monday morning.
I was serious though, there is no more "unavailable" any more.
Really though; Does anyone know the costs associated with these services?

I had the elaborate cases for a desk-top machine prototyped in plastic via "stereo lithography," a mature technology, a few years ago. It was thousands of dollars each.

OTOH, today you can buy a machine to do that at home (although probably not for objects that big) with an investment of a couple thousand, so as with a lot of emerging technologies the costs will depend on at which moment you ask.

Here's a place that offers it in plastic: Rapid Prototyping

And at the risk of veering into paddock territory, check out this case:
