BMW v12 m70

Hi guys.
tell me what kind of gear box can be mounted on the engine from BMW v12 m70. from Audi 016 or 01e? may Renault UN1?

Perhaps do a little searching on google for this guy: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QR5rveLqnhU]Blue Lamborghini Replica with BMW V12 - YouTube[/ame]

As I recall it was an audi 016 he put in there but I can't be sure.

The M70 auto bell housing would accept a flat adapter plate to enable virtually any transaxle with a removable bell housing.

You can also use the G50 options as well. Let me know if this is more appealing for you as I can put a complete kit with gearbox and adapter together for you if need be.

01e is better than 01x? in which the cars are 01x?
01e if I am not mistaken in the audi a4 2.5 TDI.

Anyone managed to get a BMW V12 in a GT40 replica?
Will it fit? They currently cost close to nothing and produce 300 HP out of the box ...

Just happen to have a 351w & BMW V12 sitting beside one another on engine stands at moment, 351w water pump flange to bellhousing is about 3/4" (19mm) shorter, BUT the V12 is longer high up @ front of rocker covers where the 351w has a gap at that point just in front of distributor cap. Need any other dimensions just ask. good engine for a scale warbird:)

They are apparently very expensive to get more out of though. IMO the cost is not in the engine, its in all the additional bits. Custom engine mounts, custom flywheel, custom adapter plates. Plus there isn't anyone else to ask. :)

There are far easier options that have ~300HP out of the box. It'd be a bit different if they were 600HP out of the box.

I have done several adapters for the BMW V12 to Porsche and Audi transaxles. I like the Cayman 6-speed. The biggest problem with hopping them up is the design of the runners in the head, I am told.

I did some research on the engines and the affordable way to get more out of them is turbocharging.
There are reports of a few BMW 850 with twin turbo setups doing about 400 HP at the wheels with the stock ECU and injectors I think.

The main problem is the fact that the exhaust port is basically shaped like an "L"
This site has some cutaway pictures of the heads:

Here is the nasty exhaust port:

More tech stuff:

In Germany you can get a 750 BMW still running for under 1000€
That will get you the complete engine, the injection system, ECU's, etc
You even get the bellhousing to connect to another transaxle that has a removable bellhousing

Even considering the relatively high cost of an engine rebuild (No less that 1000€ if all gaskets and rings are replaced) it still seems like an attractive option for the GT40

My main question is will it fit nicely in the car or not?

Those adapters sit between the bellhousing and the trans?
Do you have pictures?

Yes, it'll fit. Here's a "drop in" of one of my mockup M70's and a G50/02 into a friend of mine's early Roaring Forty.

If you'd go forward with this concept, you'd want probably want to dry sump the engine, as the sheet metal sump becomes the lowest point on the car.

Last pic is of the M70 that we've been building for, as yet, an undetermined chassis. This engine is actually one of the 6.0 liter M70's built by Henry Lawrence and it's still at his shop.

That is one nice V12
What are you using for engine management?
