ZF flywheel/Flanges.

A couple of questions.

Firstly the zf transaxle. My unit came with the fourbolt pantera flanges, I would like them to go to 108mm cv. I dont like the look of the adapters and did see some proper jobs on the bay of thieves ( fell asleep and missed them for £25). Who makes these??

Secondly, I have the small flywheel for the small zf bellhousing, it`s 12 3/8" in diameter and 121 teeth. It is tight in the bellhousing and will need clearancing, is this right ? with all this I am at a loss as to what starter motor will work with this mish mash of bits.

Thanks
Bob

Hi Bob dont know who supplied your bellhousing if it was supplied for use with small flywheel it should have correct machining also check that the starter position is correct to mesh with ring gear .We run lots of cars with this set up with no problems we also make an adaptor as depending on what type of sump you use the starter can hit the sump.If you require any more info give me a call tommorow 01489 788345.
Regards mick.

Mick its an original 1960`s gt40 bellhousing so I suppose I will have to research the flywheel diameter and ring gear that was used back then and match the ring gear :furious::furious:

Shouldnt be a problem to find the Austin A30 ring gear, might even be the same as a Morris Minor IIRC, we can still get them out here in the colonies:), surely you can find one in the UK, then machine flywheel to fit, Mick sounds like someone capable of doing that job and rebalance if reqd..

I don't know exactly who makes them, but they are readily available from the various specialists who support these transaxles. When my Pantera gearbox was converted to GT40 spec by Lloyd Butfoy, he had tons of these CV joint flanges available and it was a very straightforward swap.

Paul Fleming in the UK, Lloyd Butfoy or Dennis Quella in the USA, Paul Donderwinkel in NZ should all have what you need....
