ZF Gearbox Reversing Light Switch

Hello there,

I’m looking for some advice please.

I’m trying to source a reversing light switch for my GT40, but can’t find any mention of one in the ZF gearbox manual (5DS-25/2). Does such a thing exist? If not, what have other ZF (or other gearbox) owners done?

Clever ideas welcome. Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

Cheers,

Lance

There is such a thing and fairly readily available, it screws into the cover over the ZF shift linkage (although some GT40 cable shift assemblies eliminate this cover). The adjustment is fairly critical or it can restrict being able to actually select reverse. Here's one on evilBay right now and most Pantera vendors carry them.

Thanks for that Julian.

I checked the cover and can see where it would go however, I’m running a Lotus Esprit cable shift, so the cover isn’t used on the gearbox, as you also mentioned.

I’ll look at installing a microswitch at the gearstick shift to pick up reverse.

If anyone else has a smart installation, I'd be interested to see it.

Cheers,

This is the underside of the Ferrari 360 gated shifter. Could transfer the concept to most applications, I think.
