Clutch slip.....Grrrrr

Hoping someone in the world can help me.

I have an RF GT40, fitted with a 6spd 01E and an adapter kit made by Eric. The kit was supplied with a Sth Bend single plate clutch kit. Now my motor is 414ci engine and Dyno'ed at 454hp at the wheels.....my clutch slips terribly. I contacted Sth Bend and they supplied me a new 6 puk ceramic clutch plate as the pressure plate is as strong as they make....made little difference....sigh

Is there anyone in the world that can supply a clutch kit and adapter kit if required that won't slip with my current motor....???

I checked to see if the thrust bearing had clearance to the pressure plate. Which was all fine. Pressure plate fingers looked all even and clutch holds fine around half tbrottle. Give the car full throttle and 4th gear starts to slip and changing into 4th the clutch slips.

Think I need a race twin plate clutch of some sort. Might have to design something myself. I have a link to a clutch builder in Sth Australia but is to run a single plate again.

Its worth trying this, even though your combination may not be what you need.

I have a couple of similar engines in normal front engine, rear drive that have single plate clutch, but your ~50/50 weight and sticky tires probably push the envelope.

yeah a few people have told me their arrangememt works fine but they are not running sticky race tyres with a tall diameter and only doing short squirt style runs ,im thinking i need a twin Mcleod / Tilton style clutch.

Just need to do some searching for info.

Yes twin or triple plate set up will cope with that, it will probably manifest into other problems like gearbox failure or broken driveshafts unless you behave yourself though :) There are quite a few options on plate material for the multiplate setups and they dont all behave like on/off taps. TVR use a twinplate like this which keeps it streetable. TVR Parts Ltd - Part Details - TVR Q0365 RG - Clutch kit Helix Autosport

Quite likely its part of the problem, between the extra weight of your stroker crank, the flywheel and heavy clutch cover the clutch plate is getting hit from both directions... the extra torque from the engine and dealing with all that stored energy every time you change gear up or down, at a guess with your puck clutch plate and large dia cover the assy probably gets close to if not over 55lb. That Southbend outfit seems to specialise in light trucks etc, when are you fitting the ringfeder?:)

Lookimg for a 110t tilton flywheel. Going to go the Tilton flwheel and metalic clutch combo, going this way. drops about 11kg off the flywheel and takes weight offf the back end, all wins. I dont drive the car on the street much so willing to live with a nasty clutch that wont slip
