Registering GT40 as 1966 Car in Europe

is there a possibility to get those cars registered as, lets say a 1966 car ?

Re: Superformance GT40s For Sale 2174 & 2175

Much will depend on your local regulations but as I understand it overall you might find registration in Europe easier with an old block engine - for example in the UK this can prevent the need for catalytic converters even on a car registered as brand new - I guess it depends on why you want it registered as a 1966 car

registration as a 1966 car or anything older then 30 years means less problems to import/register the car here, less stringent on emissions, special insurance conditions for oltimer... asf.

Re: Superformance GT40s For Sale 2174 & 2175

hi jean-claude,

for our country we have to pass anyway through german(tuev) registration before anything else, snct will only register the car when tuev allowed it
as for 1966 / historic car registration it will depend on the good will or the skills of the person who puts the car trough tuev testing
in germany they have a special historic registering legislation ('H' red license plates)

Re: Superformance GT40s For Sale 2174 & 2175

hi J-P
so the question remains how awkward the TÜV guys are, cause a car build in, lets say 2000, and registered in the states as a 1966 car is definit no old car.where will be the line here between old and new.
for shure is as josvdp said, an old engine in a new car and no need for catalyc converters.
but maybe someone in this forum has already done this part, and could give some useful hints.
