Rep Power: 15 | GT40\'s in Devon, UK - July 28 In my village we have an annual car & motorcycle show, aptly named 'Wheels 2002', this year on Sunday July 28.
I'll be there showing my GTD, with another local GTD & invites have gone to two other GT40's nearby. If anyone is in the North Devon area on this date, be sure to pop in & say hello, better still if you've got any type of interesting car, motorcycle, tractor, bike, whatever, bring it along!
It's a very small & informal day & will probably see 50-60 vehicles. If anyone needs more info, please contact me on Jools@westprop.demon.co.uk |

Could you share with us all, which village that would be?
Paul, where abouts is Wiscombe Hill (roughly)?
If I can, and I know where they both are, I may well travel up and visit both events.

| Re: GT40\'s in Devon, UK - July 28 Hi Julian
Many of us will be 'in the area' so to speak as we are competing at Wiscombe Hill Climb on 27th/28th.
Spectators also very welcome.
regards

Rep Power: 0 | Re: GT40\'s in Devon, UK - July 28 Wiscombe Park is near Honiton, Devon. It is a really good venue for both spectator and competitor alike.
This event is a two day event so hopefull guys can go to both Julian's car show and this hill climb.
Practice is on the Saturday with timed runs on Sunday. You will see some seriously fast cars here (makes 40's look like volvos) as you get the national hill climb championship contenders taking part. These include the odd DFV single seater (well, a number really) as well as other very specialist cars. Where we do 80 mph they do 120 mph!!!!
See you there.

Rep Power: 15 | Re: GT40\'s in Devon, UK - July 28 Braunton is about 1 hour north-west from Honiton. Just follow the A361, or if you fancy a blast along a picture-postcard Devon A road, follow the A396, B3227. This alternative route is known as the 'Black-cat' road, named after a quaint little country garage.. it was recently featured in a TV ad 'Where's Lucky?'
When you reach Barnstaple it's just 5 miles... Braunton benefits from the best Fish & Chip shop in the South West! 'Wheels' finishes about 4
From Braunton, it takes about 45 mins to get to the M5, J27.
I hope to bring my 40 down to Wiscome on the Saturday for a spot of spectating & chin-wagging!
Malcolm, are there any more events at Wiscombe this year? I'd love to enter in my Lotus.... I won my class at Coombe sprint last weekend, beating the class record holder! |

I shall try and remember to bring my calendar booklet down to Wiscombe so you can all the events planned there this year and who is organising them. Alternatively if you won your event recently you may already have the fixtures list from the RAC MSA. That will tell what is on and when.

You have got to see these cars to beleive what they can do. Then make your mind up over what I said!

Rep Power: 15 | Re: GT40\'s in Devon, UK - July 28 Thanks Malcolm, thinking about it I've probably got an MSA fixture book somewhere...
Preumably I could only enter as a member of an invited club & I'm not prepared to join a club specially... If there is another event that the GTD owners club is invited to I guess I could enter in my Lotus under the club? |

Rep Power: 15 | Re: GT40\'s in Devon, UK - July 28 "wheels 2002" was a great success, with 3 GTD's in attendance, actually outnumbering Caterham Sevens!
Lots of other stuff, too many to mention!
I hosted a BBQ at my place afterwards & my driveway was most spectacular, the folowing cars present;
3 GT40's
1 Cobra
1 Esprit V8
2 Lotus Elise
Certainley made the neighbours jealous!! |
