GULF SPONSORSHIP.

As most of you know Gulf have been absent from UK for many years but not anymore!!
They are busy re-opening garages and remarketing their image.I just thought i would let you know officially(Malcolm already knew what i was upto) that i am now sponsored by Gulf and that we did the first two photo shoots at two new Gulf Garages today with F GT40.It was great to meet all the top brass and to be made so welcome. So 2003 will see Gulf back on the track with the GT 40 and the 917 in matching livery at grass roots level. So now i want to see you all buying Gulf products to help pay for it all.Contact me if you require any specific items and i will endeavour to obtain for you.
Regards,
Graham,

My racing Scirocco is in Gulf colours - is there any mileage in us talking further so they have a broader coverage of UK club racing ?

Re: GULF SPONSORSHIP.

Well done Graham. You have done what everyone with a Gulf coloured car dreams of doing! I bet that when you watched the original 40's at Le Mans in the 60's, you never would have beliwved that one day you would be an official Gulf driver. Of course, now you have to perform and win the world GT championship for them!!!! Please keep us all informed as to how you get on.

Malcolm

Graham,

Congratulations on getting such a great sponsor. I can see how much hard work you put into your cars & it's great that it is paying off for you!

Put me down for a T-shirt!

Re: GULF SPONSORSHIP.

Cumberland Farms, a convenience-store chain, owns the Gulf brand here in the US. My understanding is that Gulf Oil no longer exists; only the branding rights. Since Cumberland Farms is headquartered about five miles from my house, I've thought of approaching them for sponsorship. Any insight as to the terms of such agreements would be useful to me. Email or PM if you don't think it belongs in an open forum.

Re: GULF SPONSORSHIP.

Quickly before it goes again -this is third attempt- will ring Malcolm and tell him and perhaps he can use his hopefully sound computer to answer your questions or you can phone me direct. This screen jumps all over the place and slider on right of screen jumps violently up and down. Any experts out there with a better hammer?!!!

Re: GULF SPONSORSHIP.

To any of you out there who wonder why I gained support from Gulf, this following reply may help explain. I achieved 100%reliability and presentation during the 2002 Sports Racing and GT Series. I may not be the most powerful or fastest but remember the story of the tortoise and the hare. Now the 917 will be a different story.

I am the only one in the series who drives his racecar to the circuit, practices and races and this is a bonus for Gulf as presentation at any venue at any time of the year is possible. Since 1968 I have been an avid supporter of Gulf products and originally raced with support from a car sales section of a Gulf group garage. I am giving 101% support to the company which for me represents part of my perpetuation of memories and history and I have worked hard to reach this stage. So please, those of you asking if I can get you sponsored, the answer must be a polite “no”.

I will, however, in the new year be receiving supplies in various forms and will endeavour as previously stated to supply you with advertising material. This is an exciting time with Gulf re-emerging in Europe and already since the spring 22 new sites have been created with possibly as many as 50 by Christmas so the momentum is building. Remember that they are having to build up from the grass roots and I am doing all I can to support and help the company. The products as always are quality and racing fuel and oils are now available as are standard petroleum products and I will endeavour to inform you of the outlets as they increase. Rockingham already has the Gulf franchise station.

To our overseas colleagues Gulf has never left your shores and you will be able to obtain your own advertising materials. The logo is the same worldwide. It has been a very hectic, rewarding but tiring year and 2003 will hopefully be really fruitful. Our new property that we moved to at the end of September looks like a building site but my workshops are being gutted and modernised before the house! My dear wife fully understands and encourages me because she knows what the end result will be. Peace and quiet with me locked away at the other end of the site!!!
Regards
