Question Club Shutdown?

I just picked up from another thread that the GTD Club is shutting down? Is this fact? Is the club being merged with the Enthusiasts club?

Thanks,
Ron

Re: Club Shutdown?

Hi Ron -

No Club shutdown - or merger planned for that matter - it is just someone 'stirring the pot' to see what happens.....

The club has not had a magazine for a while - MY FAULT - but mainly due to lack of input material and my other 'paying work' commitments - a delay for which I apologise to ALL club members...

My last editorial issue will be printed/issued shortly and we can look forward to further magazines for some time to come under a new editor...

A more thorough explanation of events will included within the next magazine....

Re: Club Shutdown?

Hi Paul

its my understanding that no club members have received membership renewal forms for this year, so does this mean that this years membership is rolled over from last year?

Let me also say that on behalf of all the membership you were truly an outstanding magazine editor and will be greatly missed in that roll, and sincerely hope that you continue with your input and the running of the club web site.

I was sorry to hear that the Goodwood track day was cancelled for this year, as I believe that it became the key stone of the club and feel that an alternate more cost effective venue should take its place to help revitalise the interest in the GT40 and the club.

Regards

Chris.

Re: Club Shutdown?

Hi Chris -

Correct - all 2006 members are still members and any future sub's requirements will be detailed/issued in due course.

Thanks for your kind word re the mag - I have enjoyed producing it but other work commitments and lack of support have proven sonewhat troublesome of late. I certainly think that it has benefited not just our club but the 'Enthusiasts club' Mag too - as I have read the latest issue and it has come on in leaps and bounds the last couple of years - I fully understand the efforts that are required to produce such publications and congratulations to all those who have helped and contributed to both clubs editorial - long may it continue...

I'm sorry about the Goodwood Trackday issue too - but it was just not possible this year - maybe we could return next, but I'd be more inclined to go for an event combined with say Goldtrack as was suggested elsewhere. I will ensure that details get placed in a magazine to canvas opinion of the membership and keeping it open, I'm sure they'll be copied here too. I also agree that another 'large gathering' will definately rejuvinate interest all round..

The interest in GT40s still seems stronger than ever and much of the sudden interest in 'selling' cars, is I'm sure fuelled by some of the asking prices being requested... As always, regardless of spec/history, a car will only attain what the 'buyer' is willing (happily or otherwise) - PAY...

Best wishes to all club/forum members - and long may the GTD40 club continue...

(Lets just help the next editor as much as possible - please.... )
