Re: 2008 - Advance interest...

Will need a proper race suit as well as helmet, the gloves and boot are the optional but I would recommend items. Before you commit to buying a license, as that is all you need do for sprinting and hill climbing unless you are old (I think), why not bring your car over and we can go through the regs, advise what you need to do and what you don't need to do. Somethings will need doing but most are not dear.

Re: 2008 - Advance interest...

Don't forget Martin Gough turned up at an event in a standard road car with a view to just watching. He borrowed some clobber and made a timing strut out of dustbin contents. He just paid the entry fee and bought a licence. When the cars were scrutineered the main thing they seemed to check were the seatbelts.

Re: 2008 - Advance interest...

That was on the IoM and they have a different approach to things over there. Unlikely that would happen on the mainland. But it would be nice if it did!

Thanks for the offer Malcolm

First thing is to see how a Dax works in earnest - could be great or a pile of poo.

After that if the bug bites time to start looking at licence and mods - all this before the car is painted!

Re: 2008 - Advance interest...

Hi Paul

As a general rule, I like events that involve more than one day wherever possible to make the effort of getting the car prepared more worthwhile. Also, I like events at well known circuits and that attract spectators which all add to the experience. For those reasons, my preferences for 2008 would include the following events:

* Isle of Man (3 race event in famous location - 5 star action!)
* Goodwood (need I say more - the more events here the better)
* Loton Park (a great double header against the Ferraris)
* Brighton Speed Trials (lots of history and around 10,000 spectators!)

I look forward to seeing you at Brighton.

Cheers, Martin
