Just introducing myself. I'm 57 and retired. Not a lot of money, but enough to think about something like this. I built (and sold) a Factory Five Racing cobra roadster this past year and I'm looking for a new challenge. I've admired the GT40's since they first cane out ('63?) and the prospect of building a replica might be within my means if I can convince "she who must be obeyed" (SWMBO). This forum looks like just what I need to explore to get a feel of what I would be getting into. The Cobra was a challenge for someone who hadn't done mechanic work for 30 years, but it turned out well and I learned a lot. The GT40 looks like a managable step forward. Now I have go go thru the process of absorbing and evaluating as much as I can of what you guys (and gals?) have put out there. My basic desire is for a street drivable car that I can take to local "cruise-ins" and the occasional show. Copntact with regional (southeast) U.S. owners and builders would be appreciated.
