Hello from Philadelphia/NJ! Come see XGT1 MKII, J8 MKIV, Shelby Daytona CSX2287!

Hello my name is Joe. I'm a lifelong motor-racing enthusiast who loves the GT40. I just signed up on this website yesterday and I've already spent hours here.

I volunteer as a Docent at the Simeone Foundation Museum in Philadelphia PA. We have a collection 65 vintage race cars from 1909-1977. We just opened in June 2008. You really need to come see this place, it is amazing.

Here are some of the cars in the collection. All are fully operational, preserved as original as possible:

1966 GT40 MKII # XGT1 Alan Mann Racing. Le Mans 1966 #8 Gardner/Whitmore
1967 MKIV #J-8 Holman Moody Racing. Le Mans 1967 #4 Ruby/Hulme
1964 Shelby Daytona Coupe #CSX2287
1957 Ferrari 250 TR #0710 ex Ginther/Von Neumann
1959 Aston Martin DBR1 ex Moss/Clark/Brabham
1937 Bugatti "Tank Car" Le Mans Winner ex Wimille/Benoits
1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900b Mille Miglia winner ex Biondetti
1970 Porsche 917LH #3 Hippie Car
1969 Corvette ZL1
1953 Jaguar C-Type
1956 Jaguar D-Type

I'm glad to report that XGT1, J-8 and CSX2287 are alive and well, fully operational, and they are very much in original, as-raced condition. You should see them! We just ran them this past weekend at one of our "Demo Days" where we show & run the cars in our 3-acre parking lot out back behind the museum.

Check us out at Simeone Foundation Museum Home

Someday I'd like to own a Superformance MKI, 1969 LeMans winner, with the 289(?) Gurney-Weslake engine in it. I'm looking forward to learning all about these cars, and maybe one day meeting some of you at the museum and at gatherings.

All the best,
Joe C.
