Introduction

Hello,

I just joined, I have a bone stock 2005 Ford GT and am toying with the idea of a twin turbo set up assuming I can get it through Nevada DMV testing. I also own an original 1966 427 Cobra street car. This Cobra is about as far from street legal as you could get: 14.7 to 1, Jerrico gear box, electronic FI, traction control, 18" wheels with a hp to weight ratio of 2.7 to 1. I would like to have that kind of performance with a street legal car, thus the Ford GT. I am impressed by everything about the GT except the weight, if only about 400# could come out, it would be a great car. I think improvements could be made with higher spring and shock rates, getting rid of the roll understeer designed into the suspension and lowering the chassis. I am Hoping to get ideas here on potential improvements for the GT.

Thanks, Bruce

Re: Introduction

Hi Bruce,

You'll find a lot more information on the Ford GT at the Ford GT Forum. This forum is for the Ford GT40 but you're more than welcome to hang out!

Best,
Ron

Thanks Ron,

This site is far more technical than anything I have seen on the GT forum, the people there are more interested in the social side of things. Everything I have read here is far more technical in terms of design and engineering where my interests are. People here actually do their own work vs. paying someone to do it.

Re: Introduction

Welcome Bruce. Check the Ford GT Forum - their is a wealth of information there. I've tweaked my GT some in the handling dept. Great improvement.

Contact Alex at T&A Shocks on that form (MR2Race). He and Tom Rickenbach (GT chassis engineer) developed some Penske's which are excellent. Stillen also has good parts. There is also a good "Roush" 4 wheel alignment set-up you need!

Good luck.

Re: Introduction

I am interested in powder coating. I have a few friends that want me to put artwork I have done on motorcycles. I realize this is not a motorcycle site but I noticed the thread on powder coating. I am looking for a how too. More specific than what I saw. If anyone could help that would be great.
