Rep Power: 24 | Re: Nigel Hulme\'s Lola T70gt I don't find any problem with vision on the street with mine. In fact I thik it's a little better than my MK-IV.
The original box/diff was a bit much on the street so I switched over to a GT40 ZF. That solved that problem.

I was under the impression that Randy Berry (Marauder)
built some Lola replicas. Anyone ever see one?
Any chance this is one of his?

So not content with owning a super-competitive T70 Spyder, Frank Sytner also owns #49. That guy has too much fun!
Mike
Yes, the Marauder GT MKIII (a MKIIIB replica) was launched in the late 1970s. Randy Berry was the owner back then. Marauder & Co. was still advertising the MKIII in the 1990s, so I'm not sure about any legal action by Lola.
Cheers
Rob
PS Earlier in the week I received a very interesting email about an original Lola GT from 1963. I need to speak further with the owner, but it makes fascinating reading. |

You've jump started my memory. Number 7 is a Marauder.
Jim, you've also mentioned in previous postings that you have no problem with rearward vision. I'm surprised, but perhaps one shouldn't care who's behind!
Peter McGivern who owns the red GTD T70 says he simply doesn't enjoy driving the car in traffic hence its low mileage. As I previously mentioned it has some serious Chevvy power, Brodix heads, about 450 bhp, etc. $65000 delivered to the buyer's front door anywhere in the US.
Best wishes,

My car is a Marauder T70 Mark IIIb. I was first at his shop in 1980, and fell in love with the car. I have some old pictures of some of the cars there. If my information is correct, he only built 12 of the T70 Mark IIIb's. The last I heard, only 3 of these cars are known to exist today. I finally found mine in Texas, about a year and a half ago. It had been sitting uncompleted in a barn for over 20 years. I hope to be able to start on it in the near future. I am collecting parts for it currently. I have both C4 and C5 Corvette suspension now. The C5 parts are actually GM performance TS-1 road racing parts, and I think that is what I'll end up using. Time will tell, when a new chassis will be constructed.

I find it no coincidence that you were born in Buffalo, surveys prove most people are born where their mother goes into labor!
What I do find amazing is that I have been to Plano and you didn't buy me a Shiner Bock!

Right you are! I've only watched Gumball (50) times!
That's the reason I bought my Cobra replica!
Cannonball was a funny movie though...
Anyone read Brock Yate's new book?
Worth the $ 30?

Care to take a swim in "black eye brook" (our mangled translation of Shiner Bock).
I even found a decent place for wings in NW Dallas. c'mon down and I'll buy you a dozen, Buffalo style. |

What gives with the ugly tin tacked onto the side of the
wheelhouse? Can't be functional...compliance with some rule?

I may be wrong but I think for this race Jo Bonnier was racing wider rear wheels - see the image below showing the narrower width/larger diameter "spokes" of a MKIII's rear wheels at the same race. These dodgy aluminium extensions probably helped to satisfy the scrutineers until they came up with something more permanent.

Rep Power: 13 | Jo Bonnier\'s T70 MKIIIB Jo Bonnier's 1969 car, a T70 MKIIIB, which was bought to the UK by David Piper, is currently up for sale. It's been rebodied, but apart from this and the wheels, the car is pretty close to its 1969 spec. Jo Bonnier's Lola T70 MKIIIB

Rep Power: 5 | Re: Jo Bonnier\'s T70 MKIIIB In his website: http://www.bell-performance.co.uk/
Derek Bell (not the famous race driver) advertises:
"I own the body and windscreen moulds, and work with MDA ( www.gt40uk.com) who provide the chassis and running gear."
The site itself is lovely to read, especially the section where he found out about the inferior handling of his T70, before he modified the suspension.
I had a brief look at the GTD T70 in Cape Town, which is not for sale at the moment.
The last client who had the chance to buy it did let a fat change run through his fingers owning a lovely motorcar.
I hope to see him on the open track day 17 of october.
For reference:
Richard Dodkins races a T70 in the European Supersports (ex. Can-Am) with extemely wide rear fenders. Can’t find a pic at the moment.
Looking at Frank S climbing out, one wishes to have the "garage-door" version, but he must have been quite tired also.
He used up the tarmac from Killarney race track from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day – what a sight!
I hope he comes back next year.
You may check www.meanmachines.nu for another T70 replica in Norway.
I found the picture via Google.com.
