McKay fuel injection

Hello everybody,

since I don`t know anything about McKay stuff,
could anyone possibly give me some information
about this sort of injection thought to fit onto a
Chevy Big Block:
It would be particularly interesting if this injection
could make for a streetable engine or will I always
get sent into orbit as soon as I touch the pedal?

Thanks in advance.

Best,
Marcus

Re: McKay fuel injection

That's a beautiful set up Buddy,
The place with the answers for the McKay stuff is Kinsler Kinsler Home Page
They would be a handful on the street but that's not always a bad thing. Those units need to be on top of a real engine with good flowing heads. One thing to concider would be to convert it to electronics.
ACCEL ACCEL DFI :: The First Name in ACCELeration!
and F.A.S.T. FAST - Fuel Injection, Air Delivery, Electronics
Good luck, I'm working with a Kinsler unit myself similar to that one.

many thanks to you, I´ll try to gather more informations
from the sources you gave me.
BTW: You´re doing nice cars, would be e real thrill to see anyone
getting a M 8 on the road, especially with the engine you have...

Re: McKay fuel injection

I run those sets and am not sure about them on the street unless it was a car driven to a specific event and then home, but certainly not as a daily driver.

They like to Idle at arould 1500 to 1800 and they make an incredible amount of low end torque.
They like at least 120 lbs. of fuel pressure and need both an electric "start up" pump, which is then replaced by the mechanical pump.
The manifolds rot at the water jackets and will almost certainly require attention. The manifold like you have there is a part of the system, as are the pumps, injectors, and linkage.
You will need something like a good set of Brodix heads at least.
Good luck. Stick them out of the hood of a Vega and have fun !

Re: McKay fuel injection

Johan, I see it the same way.
Above all, it seems to be a real alternative to the Lucas mechanical FI which is quite hard to get hold of.
