A new Lola in Texas

I'm joining the forum by recommendation of gt40fran of RCR replicas. I purchased a one off 67 Lola MkIIIB spyder Fran built 5 years ago as a commerative car to the can am series at the request of a fan in New Mexico. This was a complete build by Fran and his team..not a kit or roller. I tried to acquire a IIIB coupe...missed the deal by an hour. I know the car I have is not accurate to the period...there never was a IIIB spyder with this body configuration...but, it's the closest I'll get to driving a can-am car, which has been a lifelong dream. I'll be 60 in a year. I sent the car to Fran to freshen up and add final touches (canards, spoiler trim tabs, etc). It's on it's way here...I'll have it on the weekend. Dreams do come true...thanks to replica builders.

this is the best shot I have until the car arrives on the weekend.

Hi Glenn, welcome aboard. The previous owner of your car was a 'prolific' poster of photos of that car while he was an active member on this site, have a look thru some older RCR or Lola threads & you will find em, I cannot remember what his forum name was though, sorry.

Yeah, let's not repeat that again. John posted a photo of his car on just about every thread the posted to - whether he was asked about a Lola or not. Eventually he got mad at me (and others) for asking him to stop and left the forum.

Here are links to his three threads:

Welcome Glenn,
I actually helped build your car :) ....ok well, I helped hold some parts while Fran bolted them on.....

Yep John was an odd duck for sure, he would post the most out of context left field stuff for some unknown reason. Oh well, I hope it's not contagious!.

Gee, you guys are gving me the creeps...now I think my car is infected, or maybe even haunted... and by owning it I'll become a self serving, argumentative screwball who has an urge to post volumes of repetitive pictures all over the forum just because I have money and a cool car.

Did I capture the essence of the previous owner?

Well, breathe easy....I'm not self serving, nor argumentative, and I don't have mega bucks...so i guess that just means if the Lola "curse" prevails, I'll turn into a screwball with a cool car. Actually, I'm not concerned because that about describes me to a "t" already.

Best,

Glenn

Congrats, Glenn!

I thought the car was stunning when the previous owner was posting on the forum.

I'm sure it will be even more drop-dead gorgeous when Fran gets done with your extras.

I'm probably not the only one who hopes you'll post at least one photo with the changes  !

Cheers from Doug!!
