Lola Mk6--how many?

I just read today in a British magazine about Allen Grant's Mk6, bought without
engine or transmission 40 plus years ago. Grant is famous in car circles for being part of the Shelby american team. But what has me confused is
I heard there were three Lola mk6 cars,

2 bought by Ford for testing
1 bought by Mecom for installation of a Chevy, now much modified

So which one does Grant own? It couldn't be the Mecom one as that body
has been so modified it doesn't look like a Mk6 anymore.

I suspect one holdup in the resto process is that Colotti gearboxes are not exactly common

It must be one of the 2 Ford bought. Alan's story is he bought it while working at FAV in Slough. Of course Broadley was under contract to Ford on the initial development of the GT40 so either Ford or Broadley sold it to Alan. I have not seen the car, but it is in WA state and has been seen by friends of Alan's here. Rumor has it that restoration was started by someone from South Africa, but Alan had a falling out with them. Hopefully it gets fully restored while Alan owns it.

We have a Lola subforum. Oh wait, I'll move this thread there for you. Anything else I could help you with?
