Rep Power: 57 | New to GT40s.com? Have a Quick Orientation Inside! Welcome to GT40s.com!
We're the largest web community dedicated to the Ford GT40, Marks I through V, replicas and real cars, and we have a smattering of Lola, Porsche 917, and Can Am enthusiasts here as well.
The Forum is 100% free and costs nothing to register. Once you are registered you can make posts on the forum, upload pictures, search for information, and interact with other through Private Messages and Chat - all for free. You'll find our community is a friendly place with a huge number of enthusiasts that are very knowledgeable about GT40s.
We do have a few guidelines for the forum and I'd like to outline them. - If you have already registered, or if you are thinking about registering, you might want to choose your "Public Display Name" to be your real name or something similar. The forum is a community and we foster communication among members by being personable and using our proper names. If you are registered look in your User CP to change your Display Name.
- If you are selling items, parts or cars, there are proper forums for doing so entitled "For Sale....". Since you'll be standing to gain by advertising to a captive audience of GT40 enthusiasts we'd appreciate a donation to the forum and you can do that in the Support Forum link.
- Looking for someone? Need someone's contact information? Please don't email the administrators, they cannot provide private contact information of members. Make a post in the "Newbie to Forum? Looking for Someone?" forum and ask for the person to contact you. Don't forget to put your email in your post or in your profile.
- The forum has been around for about five years and is somewhat organized. We have subforums for categorization of posts so please have a look around and orient yourself before posting. We like the high content to noise ratio of the forum and one way to maintain that is by keeping it well-organized with posts in the proper place.
- If you forget your password follow this link and have it emailed to you. Clearly, this won't do you any good if your email address is invalid, so make sure your email address is up to date in your User CP.
- Want to know what the best GT40 available is? Do your homework, search and read a lot, then ask some direct questions once you've got a good base knowledge. That question has been asked before so don't think you are the first person down that well-worn path, or think that you are alone. You've got an entire support network willing to help you out.
- Wonder what those red and green dots are around people's info on posts? That is the rating system, a way for members to rate other members based on their posts. Read more about it on this thread.
- Explore your User CP shown at the top of the menu bar when you are logged in. In your User CP you can set your Display Name, upload an Avatar, change your viewing options, send private messages, read messages, and much more. Have a look there and see what is available.
- And, don't forget the Image Gallery, the Member Ride area, and Chat area - all available on the menu bar at the top of the page. Have a look around and explore.
There really isn't much more to be said although we'll update this FAQ from time to time. While the forum is free, it does cost money to operate, upgrade, and maintain. So, if you enjoy the forum make a donation and receive a supporter icon ( ) on your posting information. We have more updates planned for the end of 2006 to make the forum more user friendly and to improve the look/feel of the entire operation.
Thanks much from your admins,
Ron, Al H., and Paul T. |
