Text tonight from a friend at PB saying that 1040 won its class at 2013, PB Concours. Any details, anyone?
I took numerous photos, including the engine bay and interior, and even managed to get some bonus shots of Henry Ford II with the winner. I'll be posting them here in the next day or two.
I spoke for awhile with the owner. He said the car is simply too nice to race; it will be a museum piece for future generations to enjoy.
Ah, crap, another nice race car owned by a rich guy who will just let it sit and collect dust....because it's too nice to do what it was originally designed to do: go fast around a race track.
After having seen Jon Shirley beat the crap out of a pre-WWII Alfa Romeo grand prix car at our local track in Seattle here a couple years ago....or see his $16,000,000 250TR spin off the track in 2009 and almost get wiped out....it's clear to me that if you don't have the balls to race your vintage race car then you're not the right guy to own it. Just my $.02.
Pls excuse my ignorance, but, can someone 'splain to this old man what the angle iron 'square' above the exhaust is all about?...I haven't seen one of these on a 'genny' MKI before and it has me puzzled.
