I saw this GT40 for the Dix Mille Tours du Castellet , its chassis number is P / 1000 W, do you have an explanation for the W ? Peter Auto - Dix Mille Tours du Castellet
Good question Paul. The original P1000 was destroyed in a fatal accident at Sebring March 26, 1966. That was its only race. In Spain's book he says it was rumored to have been buried trackside.
Yes it's a Bryan (not Brian) Wingfield recreation.
Bryan also built up the three cars that the Willment family had reserved the chassis numbers for. GT40P/1087, GT40P/1088 & GT40P/1089
As Stephen says it was built by Bryan Wingfield in the 1980s using mostly original parts although based on a Tennant Panels chassis. It featured recently in Motor Racing magazine, I think it was Motor Racing.

Bob McLean, RIP. a Canadian driving champion Passed away in P1000 at Sebring. I spent all my spare time hanging around his back ally shop a block from my house in Vancouver B.C. It was the Bob McLean racing teem sponsored by Fog Motors in New West Minister B.C.
