Milano

Perhaps our Australian friends can help with this:

I was at Brands Hatch at the weekend for the Historic Sports Car Club meeting and one of the races featured two Milanos.. I'd never heard of them before... they are sort of miniature Daytona Cobras built in Australia apparently with Holden engines. They were quite quick too, one came third beaten by a Ginetta G4 and an early Lotus 7 and the other recovered from an off to pick up fifth....

They looked and sounded glorious by the way.

Milano

They would be Milano GTs which were produced in Australia from 1962. They could be purchased as kits. I'm not sure about turnkey. A few years ago I spoke to an old chap who had built one on his sheep station in the middle of New South Wales. That was doing it tough in the early 60's. Not much help out there in those days. He still misses it.

A Milano GT was featured in Octane, May 2004. You have now seen two more than I have. They're quite rare. Beautiful cars though.

Along those lines. I was at a workshop where my GT was being worked on one evening when the chap who produced the Buckle sportscar happened to turn up. Look that one up. He also took over production of Goggomobiles I believe. His company was one of the earliest producers of fibreglass sportcars anywhere and at one stage, the biggest manufacturer of them in the world, apparently. Very nice chap and likes the GT40 a lot.

Re: Milano

No Jack unfortunately I only own three cars and one motorcycle. I am sure there are many members of this select group who have much more interesting garages than mine. Jim comes instantly to mind.

It would make an interesting thread though. Call it what is in your stable.
