Rick | That will go well with his new book "It doesn't matter if you cheat as long as you win"

Now if that`s your proposal for an upcoming book then it should rather become an encyclopedia written by almost all teams and drivers in F1 history.
But then following your logic, compared to Schumi all other drivers and teams were not only 2nd class in driving but cheating as well.
(I personally don`t like Schumi at all but no one can seriously believe that you become 7 times WC simply by cheating...)
BTW, some masterpieces of that "cheating" were done with and by a team that is nowadays so cheerished when Alonso drove for it last season. Coincidentally, it still has the same principal... |

Rep Power: 10 | Re: jacques villeneuve...oh my god I don't think that many of us could comment on what cheating is done behind the scenes in F1 - I am sure that it goes on.
The comments made about cheating are all about the Tuetonic Wonder Boy and his on track, clumsy, amatuerish, ham fisted, desperate attempts to steal what isn't his.
Other than Senna taking Prost out a few years ago - a move that was done coldly and with premeditation and was admitted to right after the fact - I can't think of much other on track cheating.

There can`t be any serious discussions about things like Monaco 06 and some other things which you must strongly disapprove.
On the other hand it seems a bit too simple just to call it all "cheating" whenever he became WC.
Anyway, speaking of Teutonic wonderboys, have a look at those guys glumbert.com | Germans who say nice things |

What about the 1994 Benneton (Sp?) team using traction control?
It's been widely speculated and confirmed that their engine mapping
allowed for this to occur. Thanks!

Mark | I hadn't heard about that - did they admit to it?

No, the team members never admitted to it, but several drivers who
had the opportunity to witness the car around various corners of several
tracks confirmed it. Plus, Michael's starts that year were exceptional &
the team admitted to using it in practice, but never in a race or qualifying.
There have been several discussions about it on the ATLAS F-1 website
for the past several years, but it probably comes down to "He said, she
said" etc...Sooooo, who do you believe? ?? Thanks!

Marcus, I think most Grand Prix teams do as much as they can to push the envelope as far as they can "within the rules". Is it cheating? Some would say that ethically it is, others would say it is only cheating if you get caught.
BTW
I have never detracted from Schumacher's ability as a driver, I think he is one of the greats. It is a pity that his "win at all cost" attitude detracts from his success.

Pete, thinking the same way so can`t help but to entirely agree with you.
