| Trick Software? Does anybody know of any trick software that I can use on my website so that I can look at who is on or has looked previously at the website. I currently use "the counter.com" and then go into the statisitcs page and then occasionally look at IP addresses in "who is" which is all a bit long winded. |

Rep Power: 57 | Re: Trick Software? Static, then the one Steve suggested would be good and this one is pretty good as well: StatCounter Free invisible Web tracker, Hit counter and Web stats
Watch StatCounter (and the one Steve suggested as well) to make sure it isn't an info gathering tool for the parent company. StatCoutner used to be cool but I've not used it in years and don't know what it does now.

Rep Power: 57 | Re: Trick Software? Static in that it isn't coded on the fly. The forum doesn't "exist" as HTML documents - they are assembled and coded by the forum software when you click a thread. Your website is more traditional in that it is an HTML document you or your developer has written and it exists on the server as a editable file. The type of page you are trying to track has an effect on what sort of counter you'd have to use. For instance, those two counters suggested would not work at all for say, this thread that you and I are discussing on.
Now your webhost company should be able to provide you quite detailed statistics about page views, location, etc. without you doing much of anything. Usually accessable through the control panel of your host site or by asking someone at the company.
