Rep Power: 28 | BMW M power in gt40? I have noted in this period the Bmw m5 v8 are quite cheap cars.
It can be possible to use that as donor for a gt40 or for a cobra? (maybe in a Cobra can be more easy for engine + trans dimensions?).
The M unit is great, a v8 with 400 hp and 6gear shifter,stunning quality.
Its just my foolness or this can be possible? (wasn't Rune from Norway using an Audi engine for his car?)
Donor as this can be great (engine, trans and breaks..dunno about electronics..maybe the mess is there?): AutoScout24: Il grande Automercato europeo delle auto usate e nuove

Space is not (from what i've seen) plentiful in the engine back of a GT40. |

Rep Power: 2 | Re: BMW M power in gt40? hi paolo, yes this bmw motor is a great idea, and yes the norway gy build with an audi v8, but he sells all and dont give a comend about, i never see the car complete on a pic, i want to build with an audi v8 and a porsche gearbox, i moment the problem is the motor is mor then 7 cm to high, and what i know the bmw is much higher, in a cobra it will fix, we do this job with an ols v8 mercedes 6,0 motor, no big problem.

Rep Power: 28 | Re: BMW M power in gt40? Yes,
Mine was only an idea, cause BMW engine units are usually very very good ones, with a lot of hp and torque(also brakes, even more in a lighter car as a cobra or a 40 can be).
Nearly always all the bmw I've see wrecked and trashed had always engine running well.
More, the ordinary power for such v8s is usually higher than standard 289,302 or 351,probably cause modern engines.
Surely is the same with audi v8s, I sunno if they also make such big engines with manual trasmissions (thats the main lack in modern Mercedes...really dunno why they go on selling mosters as AMG C63 with automatic trasmission..).
Dindt they place an audi engine inside the Elise? (Esthi Elise?..am I wrong?),but probably that was not a v8.
Do u think the bmw parts can be easier to fit in a Cobra(front engine, gearbox RWD..)
Maybe there are already around cars racing with m5 engine and a race transaxle..dunno.
P.s, for keith:
M1 used maybe a v12 with ZF trans?

Rep Power: 2 | Re: BMW M power in gt40? uh, the M1 had all the normal straight 6 cylinder motor, the procar had this motor tuned up, in munich i know a original motor vacum sealed, oh, years ago, and the marmorplate to made the original frame from this M1 -procar, and in my house i had the whole body for this car,.......and no time to build,....... but i think, my dream is the gt-40, and for this car i had time, i hope,........
yes, into cobras it is a perfekt motor, the M5 v8, and on ebay- you allways find motors, sometime with limited-waranty from companies,.......you can build in the whole driveline from such a car, with a lot of work, like, ----easy to install----, haha,
