Lake Powell

Progress has been slow on the GT for a number of reasons, one of them being this little adventure.

Some of you may remember I like to do outdoor stuff. I had a trip planned for 3 days of kayak touring on Lake Powell with my girlfriend. My parents had to put down their 14 year old dalmatian (Pongo) and I thought it'd be a good thing to invite my dad along. I called my mom and told her to make sure my dad got out here.

We headed for Page, AZ last Thurs night and spent the next 3 days exploring on the water, paddling, camping and hiking. It was an absolutely gorgeous and phenominal trip. The slot canyon is called Labyrinth Canyon and it is breathtaking. We camped each night on the shore, the first night on the side of a pleasant bay and the second in a gorgeous little cove on the side of the main channel. Lake Powell has a reputation for being paved with powerboaters and jet-skiers, but with the water temps still at a unfriendly low 50's, they were happily absent. We were off the water Sunday afternoon and had an excellent dinner in Flagstaff on the way home.

They're not quite the wide open mountain pictures I normally post but here are a few from the trip. They don't do the beauty justice...

Re: Lake Powell

Absolutely beautiful pictures!!!! Do you have anywhere you hosted larger versions? There are some of those I'd love to have as my computer desktop. Glad you had a great time!!
