A strange country Australia, on fire at one end and massive floods at the other. These pictures taken around Kurumba Nth Queensland give some idea of the extent of the flood.

Hi Pete

It's a good thing we chose to live in the middle between the two in Sydney.

To try and fit the 40 with a snorkel or scuba tanks for the top end floods or sprinkler/fire system for the bottom end would be just too much trouble.

As with everything in life you always get too much of the one thing at the wrong time.
Nothing ever happens in moderation.

Holy s**t Pete !!!! Is all that area in the second (or any of them) picture normally dry land? Normally inhabited?

Yes mate normally dry, in fact been a drought for about the last seven years so the locals are pleased to see the wet, apart from the minor inconvenience of having the house inundated.
It is cattle country and sparsely populated.

Jim I agree and what a way to create jobs and infrastructure, much better than giving some loser $1600 to buy a new pair of thongs.
