A "barn find" - airplane style

Oh, to have met this guy in 1987 with a huge pile of cash in hand!

One man's personal junkyard collection..... 2 Corsairs, 2 Mustangs, a B25, a B36, and more!

Quite a collection of restorables from the looks of it. Wonder where they are now?

That would have been a paradise for a kid as well as a collector!

Re: A "barn find" - airplane style

I just noticed something VERY unusual in the photos of the junkyard. The two Mustangs are not two Mustangs at all, but one F-82 Twin Mustang! That sucker is MORE rare than rocking horse poop! If I'm not mistaken, there are only a VERY few of these in existence anywhere in the world, and all are in museums. None flyable to my knowledge.

Another glance revealed an AD-1 Skyraider.

The F-82 was bought by the US Air Force for the museum.

Walter was quite the collector at his Ohio farm. Read the book "Hunting Warbirds" for some insight on him including how he took a B36 home with a Chevy pickup and a small trailer! He hated aluminum siding and doors as he knew they made from recycled warbirds! Strange guy with a lot of neat aircraft!
