| Jet man A non political post.
Yves Rossy failed in an attempt to cross between North Africa and Europe (Morocco to Spain) in his unique jet powered wing and ended up crashing into the sea. Jetman rescued from Atlantic as stunt fails - Asylum UK | For All Mankind -- Men's Lifestyle, Opinion and Humour
Maybe crashing is a bit strong as he used a parachute and then waited for a helicopter to rescue him.
There were no politicians harmed during the writing of this thread. |

I think you are going to have to try a little harder in your feeble attempts to become politically correct mate.... and I'm also darned sure that there are politicians of a certain hue monitoring this thread to say nothing of Greepeace. |

| Re: Jet man I totally agree Keith, It is an obvious attempt by David to start a political bun fight about the foolishness of people who undertake such adventures.
And the cost to the taxpayer of the S.A.R. effort. Not to mention the huge carbon footprint imposed upon all creatures, by the idiot jet man and the ships and aircraft used in the rescue.
A blatant attempt to politicise the forum once again! Shame.

| Re: Jet man Gee, "David Morton" sounds like a nom de plume doesn't it? How terribly deliberately British. He's probably actually christened Dom Mortoni or some such, and hides his real identity while he writes inflammatory stories about ocean crossing attempts and other allegorical messages. Thank goodness that Pete and Keith have him pegged. |

Dave yellow card mate...
To quite honest I really don't what the fuss is about Botany Bay it looks a nice place to me and has a cafe, toilets and crazy golf too..
I realise that you have to go through Margate to get there (if you're coming from London) and nowhere is perfect, least of all Margate where you tend to bump into a load of mature males in pubs, talking out of the corner of their mouths and muttering things about train robberies and such, but the fresh clean air wafting over from Zeebrugge will soon put you right..

| Re: Jet man Years ago I did have an Italian nickname and Italian girlfriend from Genoa when I was stationed with the 203 Nimrod Squadron in Malta in the early seventies. She used to fly into Malta every Thursday evening and departed again on Monday morning. It was all so long ago I would have to ring her up an ask what it was. Apart from that, I am really 'almost' a Geordie (north east England from the same pit village as the late and very great Sir Bobby Robson - Langley Park). |

ps Initially I thought she was saying it was 'Tesco' but corrected me with 'a' at the end. If it was Tesco I could have used my loyalty card......

| Re: Jet man Pete- I didn't know Ireland deported people to the colonies as well.
In the 50s and 60s there was a scheme here that you could buy a ticket to Australia
for £10. The return fare was a shed load more apparently. |

| Re: Jet man Ireland didn't deport anyone David, but plenty of Irish were transported to the colonies for crimes against the Crown.
The ten pound scheme was an immigration policy initiated by Australia a long time later, after WW2. Di's family came to OZ as ten pound migrants.

I think we should banish all poms to their own seperate GT40 forum! I think I'll PM Ron and suggest that!
He's always pretty receptive to constructive ideas to improve this forum!!
