Hey guys, here is a post from one of my best friends who chose to back in after his stint. He is serving in 3 Para - British Army (not to be messed with) but an all round good geezer. I sent him a mail some time ago and was worried 'cos I hadn't heard from him in a while but, here he is! (Naturally, he is in Helmand)
"Hi keith, good to hear from you! sorry to hear how tough it is on the mean
streets of the New Forest, cars getting broken into? Whatever next? I'm sure in
your next email you'll be telling me there are Big Issue salesmen of foreign
descent plagueing the streets of Lymington on market day! All is well out here
to be fair, although i picked up an injury (no extra holes and all limbs in the
right place) so had to go back to Bastion to get fixed, hence the slow reply.
I'm in full working order now, still a couple of slates diffy but not sure that
can be fixed! The lads are doing a blinding job out here, i'm attached to
guards parachute platoon as their fire controller. Coldstreamer boss, token
Welsh guard and the rest are Mick guards. Bloody good operators and great
banter to go with it. Time is flying out here a third of the tour already done.
missing the family and friends but not missing working at the fusion much! Do
miss the afternoon shifts though, really enjoyed the banter with you, Tony,
Jason and even Brabs on occasions! Well somehow i've managed to get Christmas
leave, not sure how but i promise the only helmet i've polished is my own
kevlar type. anyway its two in the morning in this delightful place so i'm off
to my fart sack! send my best to anyone that cares and i hope to see you soon
for a swift pint. take care buddy
