One news report I saw mentioned that the re-opening of the mine was not very likely...

Jokes aside there is a special place in Australian hearts for New Zealanders.

Dreadful news. Again, after the success in saving the Chilean miners this makes it even sadder.

Appalling tragedy. We have been mining coal for hundreds of years, probably thousands, so I would hope we can find a way of doing it more safely for our miners, such that we can prevent such dreadful consequences from the generation of methane.

My wife of thirty years is a coal miner's daughter. He worked at the coal-face.
Enough said.
