Geneva 2011: Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4

I have been a big fan of Lambo for a long time, but the construction of the new Aventador looks a lot more race car oriented than anything they have ever produced. I'm thinking this is going to give the 458 a good run!

Don't think I've ever seen such a long transaxle.....and they manage to fit it all under that body?

I agree - on both accounts!

You have to remember that Lamborghini mounts their transmissions ahead of the engine in their flagship cars. The differential is mounted behind the engine, and the drive shaft runs along side the engine to the diff. The old Countach had the drive shaft under the engine making the CG very high.

I think mounting the trans like this lends itself very well to the 4 wheel drive system.
