ICE ( In Case Of Emergengcy )

This may be old, but I had not seen it before, and a good idea that just might save a life !
Apparantly this is standard procedure paramedics follow at the scene of an accident when they come across the injured parties cell phone.
We all carry our mobile phones with names and numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.
I we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn;t know who to call - there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of emergency? Hence the ICE (In Case Of Emergency ) Campaign.
All you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during an emergency under the name ' ICE '
The idea was thought up by a paramedicwho found that when he went to the scenes of accidents there were always mobile phones with the patients, but would not know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognised name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency service personnel and hospital staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialling the number stored as 'ICE'
For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 ICE3 etc.
A great idea that will make a difference.

Great idea, Frank.

I would also advise that the number be checked for accuracy regularly. Here is a splendid example of why:

When I read your post I pulled out my cell phone to see if I had an ICE listing, and sure enough, I did. The problem was that the phone number was that of an ex-girlfriend that I hadn't seen in a couple of years.

Needless to say, I sure don't want her making life and death decisions in case I am unable to make my own.

Check 'em, guys!

Cheers from Doug!!

"Doug???, Sure pull the plug, in fact, I'll come right down and do it. No, no trouble. I'd be pleased to send him to Hell"

Yeah, perhaps I'll check mine and be sure it is up to date......

Hi Frank,

I know it's old but well worth doing, just looked at my phone and I had forgotten to put any ICE numbers in as I recently changed phones.

So thanks for the prompt.

Chris.
