More defence cuts are on their way. HMS Illustrious is just about to return to the fray after a complete refit and will probably never ever go to war again as the chances of it being srapped are about 10:1 on.

Under the proposals, the defence budget is to fall by 8 per cent over the next four years. The MoD is to cut its civilian personnel by 25,000 by 2015; Army numbers will be reduced by 7,000 to 95,500; Navy manpower will be cut by 5,000 to 30,000; RAF forces will be reduced by 5,000 to 33,000 and tanks and heavy artillery numbers will be reduced by 40 per cent.

The list goes on. When I joined the R.A.F it was 120,000 strong and now it's less than half the size of British Airways.
And yet we still have loads of wingless wonders running around doing all sorts of jobs any old tosspot could do with their eyes shut. An example?
The Wing Commander running the VIP visitors suite at R.A.F. Northolt for one.......
