Cars on the left are fast road cars on a track day, F1 cars on the right.


How fast is an F1 car?

I was standing at Blanchimont corner at Spa in the V10 era. This is the fastest corner at Spa and I was right at the inside of the corner very close to the cars as they blew by at nearly 200mph. Quite an experience! The blast of air and noise was fantastic with the shrill scream of the V10 at 20,000rpm drilling holes in your eardrums. fantastic.

I have seen this comparison before and am astounded at just how fast F1 cars really are. And today's cars are not as fast as some of the older models with more power etc.
