Hey Dad can I borrow the car?

Got to love track days !
Reminds me of Langley Speedway about the same time , tape the headlights , remove the hubcaps , then 2 x 2 - 5 laps drag race / self demo derby with cars that had no business being on the track .
My neighbor's wife bought a '73 Mustang Mach 1 one saturday morning , and he totaled it at the track that night .
Not really sure why they stopped having those races , but I can tell you my neighbor got more injuries when he got home than when he crashed the car !

Yes Mark, clocked that V strong roofs.

Also, low C of G cars, namely 914, 911 and Capri just span out and even though they hit the same dirt as the others, no invert.

Skoda Rapides however, obviously deserved their reputations back in the day!

Anyone know what corner that is? Something else noted....the film looks to have been shot around the same time, meaning the same day/weekend. The weather looks the same, the people running on to the course look the same......surely this couldn't have happend all within the space of a weekend could it?

If you check out this video posted here http://www.gt40s.com/forum/386240-post70.html, I think you will see Malcom break very hard in the exact spot, at 45 seconds in? I think it is in Adenauer Forst. I have circled the area in yellow on this map.

here a full lap in a 40, maybe you can spot the corner, I've only been 4 times over there and can't remember much, last time was about 3 or 4 years ago.

Yes Glenn, I did something similar to my Mums Beetle when I was 17, while she was away on a cruise. Had to fix it before she got home! Lets hope she never logs into gt40s.com!

The corner where my slide was I think different to the ones in the video. I seem to recall it being much tighter radius than where most of those cars rolled. Could be wrong though. The approach was generally uphill. However it still must have been a good place to watch as I do remember a crowd there. Lots of trees grown up since the 70's to when I went in early 90s. Scary how fragile those cars are to what we take for granted today. Good to see progress. At least the speeds were lower than today which is probably what saved most people from more serious harm.

Same place, two decades later

So Adenauer Forst appears to be the spot. Mental notes being made for future use. Thanks Mark. Track looks to stay very busy based on videos posted. Must be a nice day out as long as you don't roll it and come back in one piece.

I shudder to imagine ever having the balls to take my P4 there whenever it gets finished. Surely not???

If only the old Spa was still open, the thought of taking the Masta kink flat out, four wheel drift, is enticing!!!
