Update:
Most folks in my area are getting power back, lots of trees blocking side roads yet and some hanging on wires so its slow going, gas can be a little tough to find and usually there is a 1/4 mile or more line.
We as a group in western NJ actually did well compared to the people on the barrier islands in NJ and NYC. A drive over to Pennsylvania and there is relatively no problems, and no gas lines. For me thats about a 10 minute ride so lucky there also.
The worst hit were, as I said, the barrier islands, and I am posting an article with a video which shows the town of Union Beach, which looks as if an atomic bomb went off.
The good news is not many lost their lives, and help is coming in strongly mostly thru the National Guard and private individuals with food, clothing, water etc..
Walmart, Hess Corp. and a few other companies have donated graciously and most people that one speaks to have a positive attitude about rebuilding and getting things back to some sense of normal. It is estimated that it will take more than 2 years to get things close to normalcy.
Here is the article/ Video

Thanks again to everyone for the support and good thoughts
