Hey Pete, I'm not sure but I think they're all booked up next year. Turns out there are some rich Somalians using them (on housing benefit natch) and apparently they own half the world's tanker fleet as well, so if you can find one - it's probably going to be a good 'un with fresh straw and newly laundered dish dash.

Seriously though, I had never heard of them but spotted a Tweet from "Red Herring Events" who is a friend of mine near here and Steve specialises in outside catering on a large scale so obviously he has some experience of them.

I will contact him and ask him...although, I kinda suspect David already has the skinny.

Abilmo Pop-up Hotel Rooms: Instant Accommodation

We have shown a few instant hotel room ideas before; they are big in Europe where there are a lot of festivals and a lot of people with a lot of money who need something better than a tent. Abilmo squeezes a lot of stuff into 12 Sqm, (130 SF) including a bathroom with toilet and shower, thermal and acoustic insulation, individual heating and air conditioning. It is an interesting idea- why build an entire hotel for a big event when you can just move it around?

It doesn't look bad inside, either, if a bit spartan.

The site plan looks a little Guantánamo Bay and could use some work, but it is all real, they built it for the Le Mans races in June. Watch the video at ::AbilmoOther Prefab Pod Hotels in TreeHugger

Audi have three that sit behind the main garage at Le Mans specifically for the drivers and they are constructed on top of the containers and awning area that make up the body shop. They are quite well appointed with quite effective sound insulation. Personally, my Mercedes Sprinter is actually a Motorhome and I park on the western side of the airfield so I am about 2000 yds away and if I have a noise issue I use my noise reduction headset playing with the massed bands of the Argylle and Sutherland Highlanders marching along Princes Street. It sends me to sleep pdq.

Jack, believe me - the whole of the Le Mans area during the 24 is plagued (or blessed depending on your point of view) with eastern Euro night fighters and loads of their 'visiting' cards are stuck under the windscreen wipers every morning.

It's a village called Little Marlow and if you use google earth it's SL7 3RZ. It's the house
set back off the road and just south of the pub gardens ( with the parasols in the pub garden).
Two pubs - the first at 80 yds and the second 200 yds away and both keep good beers.
The local brewery is 1.2 miles away (Rebellion ) and is about 6 on the Richter scale. (They also have in incredible stock of wines and spirits from everywhere in the world). The local railway has direct trains into London and is just down the road and the trains arrive in Paddington which is where the best Dim Sum restaurant in London is as well. Their beer is Tsingtao which I find really quite agreeable. Don't associate British beers with anything else, but I plan champagne anyway........
I can hear Keith moaning already.

Truthfully, I could not identify any discernible barrier between Lord Morton's Motte and the adjacent pub garden, except I think there was a gate in the Bailey wall which was off it's hinges.
