Jim Clark

Pete McCluskey.

Lifetime Supporter
Jim Clark died 45 years ago today. I had the pleasure of meeting him many years ago at Sandown Park in Melbourne when he was competing in the Tasman Trophy. R.I.P.

Although I was only two when we lost Jimmy, his is one of the first names to come to mind if I think of formula 1, or any motorsport for that matter. To me & I'm sure to many more in the future, he will always be viewed as one of the very best & most respected drivers ever.

Not only that, Jim was good & decent man.

My 'personal connection' is via a former work mate, who in the sixties was a young mechanic at Ford Motorsport (Boreham airfield) & on rally support.
When Jim Clark formula 1 world champion, was forced to retire his works Cortina rally car he decided the thing to do was to assist the young Boreham mechanics lugging jerry cans & helping to service the remaining cars....

A small but happy memory of Jim, from a young mechanic who has never forgotten that day.

God bless Jim
