California vs. Texas

The Coyote Principle

California

· The Governor of California is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks the Governor's dog, then bites the Governor.
· The Governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie"Bambi" & realizes he should stop since the coyote’s only doing what is natural.
· He calls Animal Control. Animal Control captures the coyote and bills the state $200 testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it.
· He calls a veterinarian. The vet collects the dead dog and bills the State $200 testing it for diseases.
· The Governor goes to hospital and spends $3,500 getting shots, checked for diseases from the coyote and on getting his bite wound bandaged.
· The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while Fish & Game conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals.
· The Governor spends $50,000 in state funds implementing a "Coyote Awareness Program" for residents of the area.
· The State Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world.
· The Governor's security agent is fired for not stopping the attack. The state spends $150,000 to hire and train a new agent with additional ‘Special Training- Re: The Nature of Coyotes’.
· PETA protests the coyote's relocation and files a $5 million lawsuit against the state.

TEXAS

The Governor of Texas is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks his dog.
The Governor shoots the coyote with his state-issued pistol and keeps jogging. The Governor has spent $.50 on a .45 ACP hollow point cartridge.
The buzzards eat the dead coyote.

And that, my friends,
is why California is broke,
and Texas is not.

Texas Republican Governer Rick Perry approval rating 41%

California Demoratic Governer Jerry Brown approval rating 57%

It has taken awile to recover from the economic mess left by two terms with an idiot Republican Actor/Governer, but CA is now in good hands and is recovering very nicely!

Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's approval rating at end of term 23%

Wow. Just.........................wow.

Say 'Hi' to Toto for me...

(Oh, I just thought of something. For D.M.: "Toto" sometimes is spelled "Todo". Please Google it. I guess it's kinda like 'center' and 'centre'...or 'check' and 'cheque'. So, I just tossed all scholarly orthographic considerations to the wind...flipped a coin and...)

Man...'Dubya' is responsible for all the spending in Cali too? 'Probably for Detroit's fiscal/physical demise as well. How 'bout for the Titanic? Or maybe the dust bowl back in the '30s? Ole George was a busy fella...

Unbelievable...

Actually, Schwarzenegger was responsible for most of the sepending/debt. He was Governer from 2003 to January 2011. Arnold, following the typical Conservative leadership path, he cut taxes and increased spending. Just as Reagon and the Bushes found out, that leads to huge debt and a screwed economy.

Governor "Good Hair" Rick Perry is a buffoon....a fool. He clearly has plans for a presidential race (again) and if we want even worse than Gee-DUB we could elect him...or, we could vote for his opponent as the lesser of the two evils. I have no idea who he will run against, just know from having lived here for 30 years that he will be worse for America than almost anyone I can think of. Given a choice between Perry and Boehner (and you all know how I revile Boehner), I think I'd vote for Boehner. He at least seems to display that he has half a brain....Perry is clueless...and, brainless!

He's a DOLT of the worst kind.

Cheers for ANYONE against Perry!

Sorry, Jim, but NO. Just as in congress, a state's legislature writes up/passes/is responsible for all spending bills. The gov just signs or vetoes 'em.

The DEMOCRAT MAJORITY in both houses created the state's budget and everything in it. Therefore they are totally to blame for all of it in that regard. Schwarzenegger didn't veto any of it. So, he's to blame only to that extent.

The Governors security agent sues for unfair dismissal, is awarded $200,000 and is re- instated. He is currently on stress leave on full pay.

Spoken like a real increase spending, cut taxes Consevative. Larry why don't you show us an example where cutting taxes and increasing spending has ever done anything but increase debt and screw the economy?

Reagan tried it and failed
BushI tried it and failed
BushII tried it and failed
Arnold tried it and failed

Larry, surly you can show us just one time where it succeeded.................

***************

So you are saying its just an incredable coincidence that from the day Jerry Brown became Governor the spending started to decline?

Just like its only a just a coincidence that from the day Reagan and BushII took office the debt skyrocketed.

It may be that Consevative are just very un-lucky or they are incredabley bad at Governing, either way they should never be in a position to destroy the economy again!

The governors wife starts a fund to protect coyotes, the people of California contribute $ one million to the fund which is approved by the Governor. The governors wife is appointed Director and C.E.O of the fund and draws a salary of $100,000 per Annum plus expenses.
A select committee is appointed at the cost of $500.000 to come up with a catchy brand for the new fund.

Gee Pete, you seem to be implying that Governer Brown is only in it for the money.................

You could not be more wrong!

California Governor Jerry Brown shrugged off the pay cut that's soon to lighten his wallet.

"I'd run for governor whether it was a paid job or not," the 74-year old, two-time governor told the San Jose Mercury News. "I derive a lot of psychic income."

Hopefully the 120 members of the state's legislature (as well as a small handful of other top elected officials) share his characteristically zen outlook. This week, the California Citizens Compensation Commission agreed to reduce the pay of the state's top officeholders by five percent, this most recent new cut comes in the wake of the privious 2009's 18-percent salary reduction.

Larry, surly you can show us just one time where it succeeded.................

'Did that months ago on another thread...and you ducked dodged and nuanced around it then just like you would again were I to rehash it...or you'd ignore it and 'redirect' just like you did above when I pointed out who was really responsible for California's debt.

BTW, I noticed you failed to list John Kennedy's tax cuts. Why? JFK SAID THE SAME THINGS I TOLD YOU with regard to tax cuts/revenue. Here he is in his own words...listen up...then tell me HE'S nuts:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmHdqWPB_S8"]JFK speech on tax cuts - YouTube[/ame]

Regardless, as I've pointed out time and time and time again, revenue increases that tax cuts provide - no matter how large - won't EVER make a dent in the govt's debt if congress (or a state's legislature) insists on spending ever MORE, MORE, MORE than govt takes in no matter how much money that might be.

It's just a matter of logic, common sense and basic math, Jim.

No mention here of the $900million dollar tax windfall and associated wealth from the oil industry that Texas enjoyed that Californian didnt.

'Wouldn't have mattered if Cali had had a 2 trillion dollar oil windfall - they'd have found a way to blow all of it and more.

What would be more interesting than which state is in debt or otherwise would be the net figure for government spending per capita for each state. Now that would make an interesting read.
