From what I understand there were two fatalities, one in a building collapse and one due to heart attack immediately after the shake. Major surface displacement in some places, pics showing 1 to 2 meter variation, dairy farms with no power and rotary milking platforms thrown off their tracks-cows still have to be milked- not funny when you have large herds~300 upward. Camper van agents doing urgent survey to locate vehicles in case some have been caught in slips/rockfalls. Several instances where looters have entered properties after owners were told to evacuate with threat of tsunami. Lake forming behind dam created by rockfall which is a concern for those downstream. In general lots of structural damage in what is a predominately rural area with folk who will have to use some #8 wire type thinking for a while and the big picture will take some time to become clear.
